Economic Development is the creation of wealth from which community benefits are realized. It is an investment in growing your economy and enhancing the prosperity and quality of life for all residents. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is “breaking new ground” in response to the economic climate of the nation.
National economic trends, such as unstable unemployment, the threat to Social Security as we know it, and the widening gap between wealth and poverty are the basis for the development of Financial Fortitude, the current Economic Development program initiative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Financial Fortitude is a process that will help program participants to set and define goals, develop a plan to achieve them, and put the plan into action. The process serves as a blueprint to address all aspects of personal finances.
Beyond Financial Fortitude, Western Wake Alumnae also provides a range of valuable programs, including home buying and small business seminars.

As an organization of college-educated women, Delta Sigma Theta plays an active role in the educational movement, seeking to inspire, motivate, and support the aspirations and achievement of youth and young adults.
The Western Wake Alumnae Chapter implements Delta Academy and GEMS, two national initiatives, that are programs geared toward inspiring and enriching the lives of African-American and Latina young ladies in grades 6-12. Aimed at shaping well-rounded young women, the goals of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is to enhance and spark interest in STEM and careers where minority women are scarcely represented. The Delta GEMS program offers a road map for college and career planning through activities that provide opportunities for self-reflection and individual growth.
The Western Wake Alumnae Chapter also recognizes the impact academic excellence can have on our growth as a community. Since our chartering, we have raised and distributed over $50,000 in scholarship funds.

The Health Awareness committee has a general focus of promoting awareness of community health issues and preventative actions such as staying active. The committee frequently hosts events such as the Step & Stroll which keeps Sorors active while having fun and learning new dance moves. The Western Wake Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. participates annually in a community Health Fair which includes a mobile dental unit, activities such as Zumba and Self-Defense taught by members of the local police department, and various vendors to encourage and support a healthy and active lifestyle.

Western Wake Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This is awesome! Thank you so much!
Thank you very much for your donation on behalf of Zaidi Ya Dreams OpenHeart Inc. Your donations will allow us to hold another giveaway next month. We have included photos below of the young ladies in our program as well as our volunteers. As a next step, we plan to open the donations up to our community.
Some of these young ladies wear old rags and only have two pairs of panties. Getting these products was like getting a present for Christmas. Seeing them so happy was wonderful. One of the volunteers taught the young girls how to correctly use the products. The menstrual cups were a mystery, but I suggested they Google them. 😂
Just wanted to say thanks for your support and help, we will send a video soon.
May God bless you all! ❤️🙏🏽
