As an organization of college-educated women, Delta Sigma Theta plays an active role in the educational movement, seeking to inspire, motivate, and support the aspirations and achievement of youth and young adults.

The Western Wake Alumnae Chapter implements Delta Academy and GEMS, two national initiatives, that are programs geared toward inspiring and enriching the lives of African-American and Latina young ladies in grades 6-12.  Aimed at shaping well-rounded  young women, the goals of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is to enhance and spark interest in STEM and careers where minority women are scarcely represented.  The Delta GEMS program offers a road map for college and career planning through activities that provide opportunities for self-reflection and individual growth.

The Western Wake Alumnae Chapter also recognizes the impact academic excellence can have on our growth as a community.  Since our chartering, we have raised and distributed over $50,000 in scholarship funds.
